After about a year we left cinemas due to the COVID-19 pandemic situation, Disney had a little welcome present for us.

If you have watched “Raya and the Last Dragon” in a theatre, you must have been surprised by a short animation before the movie itself started. “Us Again” is the newest short from Walt Disney Animation Studios directed by Zack Parrish and also Disney’s first short animation in the last four years. It was theatrically showed before the latest Disney Princess movie, “Raya and the Last Dragon”, but you also can watch it on Disney+.

This movie tells us about a couple perceiving their old days in a city full of dance-y people. Comes in a 3D format, it perfectly shows off the vibrancy of the city. The background is simply perfect to describe New York City, and the details of every reflection on this movie is insanely breath-taking.

If you have watched it and it reminded you to Damien Chazelle’s La La Land, you are not alone. An article on koimoi.com even says that Us Again could be an alternate ending of La La Land in a parallel universe.

Not only because it is a musical movie, but also the jazz music, the choreography, and the enthusiasms of the characters that resonate to Mia and Seb’s characteristics so much. Even though La La Land is in the city of stars, while Us Again is in the city that never sleeps, both movies bring the same spirits up for their audiences. Both are lively and dreamy at the same time, and most importantly, both of them are passionate and full of love.

Overall, in only 7 minutes, Us Again’s Art and Dot succeed to leave a sweet memory in us, and to remind us to appreciate our lives.
